Outback Aviation Vacuum Cleaner

Flies are a real problem at some of the Outback locations we’re visiting.  There’s hundreds of them and they’re persistent.  That’s why Aussie’s wear hats with corks dangling from the brim.

Having flies in the aircraft is a pain.  You can’t keep them out and they enjoy the ride while crawling all over you when you’re trying to concentrate - but we’ve found a solution that works a treat.

We purchased a short length of garden hose and when the aircraft window is opened and the end of the hose is allowed to enter the aircraft slipstream it creates a neat vacuum cleaner that sucks the flies up.

We had so much fun and so many laughs doing this, I think we’ll try and round up some flies and load them in the aircraft at the next stop.
